Students from St. Augustine High School and the Academy of Our Lady of Peace dressed as Jesus and the women and soldiers will act out the 15 stations or episodes in Jesus’ journey to Calvary as part of the 27th annual Good Friday Walk with the Suffering. During the two and a half hour procession through downtown San Diego, representatives from various organizations that serve the needy will provide prayers and reflections at various sites on issues that cause suffering in San Diego. The public is invited.
“The purpose of the walk is to help us reflect and pray for those who suffer because of poverty, human trafficking, lack of access to health care, hunger, lack of affordable housing, and other issues, “ explained walk coordinator Rosemary Johnston.
Walk participants will sing hymns as they process in silence to nine different sites in downtown (see attached schedule), beginning and ending at the San Diego Rescue Mission. The walk is co-sponsored by the Interfaith Shelter Network of San Diego and Catholic Charities. Free parking will be available at the San Diego Rescue Mission parking structure on Second Avenue across from the SDRM facility, located at 120 Elm St.
